Most of us are taught not to think too hard about certain things like where animals come from and what happens to them. Because to really see it hurts (and disrupts) too much.
So we learn to look away.
But when we train ourselves not to feel the suffering of others, something inside us closes too. The suffering of animals isn’t separate from the suffering of the planet or from our own. It’s all connected.
And the more clearly we allow ourselves to see that, the more obvious it becomes that another way of living is possible.
And imperative.

Javid Khales, a young Iranian soldier, has been sentenced to death by the regime for refusing to shoot protesters, according to reports from the Iran Human Rights Society.
Khales didn't commit a crime — he committed an act of humanity. The Iranian regime sentenced him to death for it.
